1955 Receiver and Barrel

An outstanding example of a postwar M1 Garand. This Springfield Armory M1 has a late production serial number, dating to 1955. The receiver has original finish with minimal wear. The barrel also Springfield, dated Sept 1955, has a bright bore. All parts are military except for the stock, marked parts are detailed below. The stock is new production walnut with a CMP cartouche. A very nice grain filled finish was applied to the stock and handguards, since they come unfinished other than maybe a quick stain. We used our own oil sanding method first to fill the grain, then multiple satin clear coats for a vastly improved appearance.

The gun originally came from the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) and includes a certificate of authenticity. A manual, original blue hang tag, canvas sling and two M1 enbloc clips are included. The gun will ship in the hard molded case shown in pictures.

 


SPECS:

Receiver: Springfield Armory, serial number 5923880, marked 28291 17 on leg. Original finish, no pitting, some wear at corners.

Barrel: Springfield, marked F6535448 9 55 A223A in op rod slot. The bore is bright, ME 1 TE 2. These measurements (same as new) show that the rifle has been fired very little, and its accuracy will not drop off for many thousands of rounds.

Bolt: Springfield, marked 6522827-SA

Trigger Group: Springfield, marked D28290-12 SA

Gas cylinder and front sight appear to be standard SA

Sling: new, canvas repro

Extras: Two M1 enbloc clips (no ammo), manual, CMP certificate of authenticity, hang tag and hard molded case.
