Early 1950s production Springfield Armory M1 Garand. Serial number 4234205 dates to about 1953. Barrel is Springfield dated 12-51, has good gauge numbers and bright bore. Major marked parts are Springfield. No import marks. New commercial walnut stock. This Garand is in excellent used condition. It has been test fired and operates perfectly, cycling through a clip and ejecting it at the end.


The gun has been disassembled, cleaned, and lubricated. Parts were clean for photos, coated with oil and greased where appropriate when reassembled.


Repro canvas sling is included, along with 2 M1 enbloc clips (no ammo). Ships in a hard foam lined case.

SPECS:

·Receiver: marked “D 6528291” on leg, heat lot 43, no pitting except for a slight darkening in one spot on the left side, see photos. We believe the finish is original. Marked on top with serial number and “U.S. RIFLE CAL. 30 M1 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY”. There is a groove through the leg marking, just the way it came out of the forging press apparently.

·Barrel: marked “S-A-12-51” in op rod slot, with proof P Marked “D6535448 45 A159” on top, with crossed cannons stamp and magnetic test mark M. Bore is bright, rifling very good, chrome pads at gas port, chamber in the white. Measures 1 at muzzle, 3 ½ at throat.

·Op rod: flat side marked “6535382 SA”

·Op rod catch: late type, unmarked

·Bullet guide: milled WWII type

·Follower: late type, marked “12”

·Follower arm: no bevel

·Follower rod: long fork, riveted

·Bolt: marked “D28287-12SA A8W”

·Sight knobs: postwar T-105 type, elevation Weatherhead logo, windage DRC

·Rear sight cover: late type with ribs

·Rear sight aperture: double track

·Trigger housing: marked “D28290-12-SA”.

·Trigger guard: milled SA type

·Trigger: late type, no extra hole

·Safety: marked “SA_11”

·Hammer: marked “C46008-2 SA”

·Hammer spring plunger: WWII type with wings

·Gas cylinder: wide sight platform, flat on top of rear ring.

Front sight: .67 wide, seal type screw with no seal

·Gas cylinder screw: cross slot poppet valve type, marked P and hexagon

·Stock and handguards: walnut, commercial reproduction, very nice finish.

·Sling: new repro
