Remington Model 4, .22 caliber, serial number 318642. The
rolling block rifle is a single shot, and handles .22 short, long and long
rifle. This is a takedown model with octagon barrel, made in 1924.
This Model 4 has been a safe queen. The original case
coloring on the receiver is almost perfect, practically unheard of with these
guns, especially given the age. Bluing on the barrel is very good. There are
some minor dings and scratches on the barrel, but no pitting anywhere on the
rifle. Bore is bright and shiny. The gun functions perfectly.
The stock is in excellent condition. There is a small chip
on the right side of the stock near the receiver (see photos). No cracks or
major dings or scratches. The metal buttplate shows some finish wear. It is
marked “REMINGTON UMC TRADE MARK”.
The serial number appears on the receiver and underneath the
barrel. The top of the barrel is marked “Model 4”, “REMINGTON ARMS—UNION METALLIC
CARTRIDGE CO.,” “REMINGTON WORKS, ILION, NEW YORK, U.S.A.”. “REMINGTON Trade
Mark” appears after the rear sight.
