Early Remington Model 11 semi-auto shotgun in the hard to find 16 gauge. The Model 11 is a copy of the Browning Auto 5 made under patent agreement with Browning until 1949. Browning patents are marked on the top of the barrel.  The Sportsman model, designed for hunters, holds three rounds, not five like the Browning. The barrel code on this shotgun indicates it was made in 1937.

This shotgun is in near mint condition. Bluing is 99% plus. There are no scratches, dings or pitting anywhere on the metal-just one small finish wear mark on the bottom of the barrel, shown in photos.. Bore is bright and shiny. We think only a few rounds have been shot through this gun. The wood-American Walnut-is excellent, with sharp checkering and no scratches, dings or cracks anywhere. The receiver features engraved game scenes on each side. The left side is marked "The Sportsman" "Remington" and the serial number 213099. Buttplate is marked "Remington".

This Model 11 has a plain barrel, 28 inches, with a fixed modified choke and front bead sight. Length of pull is 14 inches.

The original factory manual is included, no box.

This is a truly fine example of Remington's Model 11 Sportsman and would be a nice addition to any collection.
