Late WW2 production M1 Garand. This is a Springfield Armory M1, serial number 3796765, dating to May 1945. The barrel is Springfield dated April 1945. SA NFR stock with crossed cannons. No import marks. All marked parts are Springfield with the exception of the Winchester front sight. This Garand is in excellent used condition and has the right parts and wood for its serial number according to our books. Parts are detailed below and shown in photos.

Sling, manual and two M1 clips (no ammo) are included.

Bench test of timing and op rod function is excellent. We will lubricate and test fire the rifle if the buyer wants this done.

SPECS:

 

Receiver:  marked “D 28291 35” on leg, heat lot Z2A. Excellent condition, original finish with some wear at corners.

Barrel:  marked “S-A-6-45” in op rod slot, with proof mark “P” and punch mark. Bore is bright, rifling sharp. Muzzle Wear: 1, Throat Erosion: 2

Clip latch: late square front type, unmarked

Op rod: flat side, marked “D35382 9 SA” unmodfied

Op rod catch: late type, unmarked

Follower: late type, marked “12”

Follower arm: no bevel

Follower rod: long fork, riveted

Bolt: marked “D28287-19SA A-9”

Sight knobs: lockbar, late SA markings

Rear sight cover: late type with ribs

Rear sight aperture: double track, unmarked

Trigger housing:  marked “D28290-14-SA”

Trigger guard: stamped with milled hook, unmarked

Trigger: late type, no extra hole

Hammer: marked “SA-C46008-7 SA”

Hammer spring plunger: late type without wings

Safety: round top, marked “SA 11”

Gas cylinder: wide sight platform, flat on top of rear ring, punch mark on bayonet lug

Front sight: 0.64 wide, punch mark, probably WRA

Gas cylinder lock: square front type

Gas cylinder screw: cross slot poppet valve type, marked “P”

Stock:  SA NFR stamp with crossed cannons, although these markings are weak. USGI walnut, no cracks, fewer than average dings and gouges, nice appearance. SA NFR stamp with crossed cannons, although these marks are weak.

Handguards: walnut, no cracks, same condition as stock 

Sling: used, GI
