US M1 .30 Carbine, made by Inland Division of General Motors during mid WW2. Serial number 5133047 dates to January-June 1944. This carbine is in excellent used condition.  

This carbine has an Inland barrel dated Jan 44, with a bright bore. There is no bayonet lug, and no evidence of one ever being on the gun. The Inland stock is marked with "IO" in the slingwell and a somewhat faint crossed cannons cartouche on the right buttstock. There is also a mark indicating an arsenal rebuild at Mt. Ranier. Most marked metal parts are Inland, with the exception of the trigger housing, which is unmarked, a commercial replacement. All parts are described below and shown in photos. No import marks. A sling and magazine pouch are included, along with two 15 round magazines. 


SPECS:

Receiver: Inland, marked "U.S. CARBINE CAL. 30 M1" "INLAND DIV.  5133047"

Barrel: Inland, marked "INLAND MFG. DIV. GENERAL MOTORS 1-44", and a small "P" on the top of the barrel. Bright bore. Muzzle erosion is less than 1.

Operating Slide: Inland, marked "PI"

Bolt: Inland, flat, blued, marked "A.I."

Front Sight: Inland, marked "N" 

Rear Sight: Flip, non adjustable, marked "S" on left side

Trigger Housing: unmarked, we believe this is a commercial replacement. 

Stock and Handguard: Inland, low wood.  Marked "IO" inside handguard and inside slingwell. Crossed cannons is faint on the right side of the buttstock, along with "MRM", indicating rebuild at Mt Rainier Ordnance depot. The number 75 is painted on the bottom of the pistol grip.

Magazines: 15 round. One is marked "R-C" (Rock-Ola), the other is marked "PW" (Winchester)

Magazine pouch: Canvas reproduction, marked "US" on front, "J.Q.M.D. 1943" on rear. 

Sling: Canvas USGI , marked "MRT 8-62" on tip, "UNITED CARR BOSTON, MA" inside.
