Colt AR-15 SP1 with 3X Scope Made in 1977

The highly sought after Colt SP1. This is a 1970s AR-15 (Model R6000), caliber .223, with a Colt 3x20 scope. Pre-ban serial number SP70860 dates to 1977.

The SP-1 was Colt's first commercial semi-auto version of the military M-16. It has a 20 inch barrel with flash hider and bayonet lug. Synthetic fixed buttstock with the distinctive triangular handguards.  A1 sights, no forward assist or case deflector. 20 round factory magazine.

The receiver is marked on the left side with the Colt logo and "COLT AR-15", "CALIBER. .223 MODEL SER. SP1 SP70860". The rifle is also marked "COLT'S PATENT FIREARMS MFG. CO. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A." The barrel is marked on top "C MP CHROME BORE". The scope is marked on top "COLT 3x20".

This rifle also includes an unusual feature, a buttstock cleaning kit produced by General Motors. It is in its original packaging, labeled "ELECTRO-MOTIVE DIVISION GENERAL MOTORS LA GRANGE, ILL 60525". The outer paper has been opened but the inner plastic is sealed, with brushes and oiler intact.

This SP1 is in excellent used condition. Bore is bright and shiny. Metal finish is very good, buttstock and handguards have no dings or cracks, just some light scratches/handling marks. The rifle has been test fired and functions perfectly.
