WW II Springfield Armory M1 Garand. Serial number 2988538, dates to July 1944. SA 3-44 barrel with good bore. No import marks. Parts are of WWII and postwar manufacture, all in excellent condition, see details below and in photos.

The rifle has been disassembled, cleaned, lubricated, and test fired. Parts were clean for photos, coated with oil and greased where appropriate when reassembled.

Accessories included: M1 canvas sling (repro) and two M1 enbloc clips (no ammo).




Receiver: marked “D 28291 32 on leg, heat lot YO4A<>. Marked on top with serial number and “U.S. RIFLE CAL. 30 M1 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY”.

Barrel: marked “2-S-A-3-44” with “P” and punch mark in op rod slot, also marked on top “D6535448-28-Y-63-D”, with small crossed cannons stamp. Bore is bright like new, no chrome pads at gas port.

Barrel Gauge Measurements: Muzzle Wear: 1 Throat Erosion:  3 1/2

Op rod: marked “6535382 SA”, new condition

Op rod catch: late type, unmarked

Bullet guide: WWII milled type

Follower: late type, marked “13”

Follower arm: no bevel

Follower rod: long fork, riveted

Bolt: marked “D28287-19SA A-5”

Firing pin: half round, no chrome tip

Clip latch: WWII round front type, marked “CM” (Winchester)

Rear sight: postwar T105 type, elevation knob marked “NHC”; windage marked “DRC”

Rear sight cover: late type with ribs

Rear sight aperture: HRA/SA/IHC type, double track

Trigger housing: marked “D28290-2-SA”

Trigger guard: WWII SA

Trigger: late type, marked “A” (Winchester)

Hammer: marked “C46008-2 SA”

Hammer spring plunger: WWII type with wings

Safety: unmarked

Gas cylinder: wide sight platform, flat on top of rear ring

Front sight: 0.64 wide

Gas cylinder lock: beveled front WWII type

Gas cylinder lock screw: cross slot, grenade launcher type, marked “O”

Stock and handguards: refinished arsenal replacement birch, very nice refinish. Stained darker than birch usually is, looks almost identical to walnut.

Sling: new repro
